How the Proximity Access Control System Works

RFID Proximity Access Control

Authorised employees gain access to secure doors by presenting their personal RFID badge or keyfob to the scanner. Successful requests are confirmed with an audible and visual message. Door entry is quick, efficient, and fully reportable.

RFID Capacity and Recording

The AC100 terminal can store RFID records for up to 999 members of staff. Employees can begin using the system as soon as they have been issued with their RFID badge or keyfob.

Entry/Exit and Multiple Door Scenarios

The AC100 terminal will link to most internal or external doors and works as a switch to open the door locking mechanism for authorised users. The terminal can be used in tandem with our proximity peripheral door controllers to manage entry and exit on either side of a single door, or to control movement through two or more entry points. All devices are centrally managed through our PC based access control software.

Permissions, Time Zones, and Live Monitoring

Our intuitive access control software makes it easy to monitor and manage employee movement between areas, allowing you to specify access permissions by role, responsibility, or department/group. Access events can be viewed in real time via live monitoring, and your assigned in-house administrator can enroll and manage users with ease.

Door Access Control with Time and Attendance

ClockRite access control systems can incorporate Time & Attendance tracking in one of two ways:

Dual Credentials: biometric and proximity credentials are utilised in tandem; with one method (ie keycard/fob) used to register attendance and the other (ie secure PIN) to gain access to secure doors.

Standalone Attendance Hardware: a dedicated attendance clocking terminal is installed alongside access control hardware.

This separation of concerns ensures attended hours are accurately recorded and prevents confusion between access and attendance events. Under either configuration each employee can register up to 16 attendance clockings and unlimited access control events each day. Our PC based time and attendance software enables quick and easy payroll calculation and features flags for late starts and early finishes, grace and rounding options, holidays, sickness, and overtime calculations.

FAQs

Are there any monthly fees or ongoing costs?

No, we do not charge monthly fees or subscriptions. Quoted prices assume that you'll be installing the system yourself and include the following:

  • Hardware
  • Software
  • Free delivery (UK mainland)
  • 12 months unlimited UK support

If you'd like to have your system installed by one of our engineers please get in touch for installation prices in your area.

After the first 12 months we'll invite you to renew your support contract with us. This is entirely optional, and you can take out a new support contract with us at any point in the future if you choose not to renew after the first 12 months. We do not charge an ongoing licence fee for the ClockRite software, and you'll still have access to your system regardless of whether or not you choose to renew.

How long is the warranty?

All clocking systems are supplied with a 12 month hardware warranty and 12 months software support. After this period you may choose to renew your support contract with us, thereby extending your system support and hardware warranty for a further 12 months.

Should we use keyfobs or badges?

RFID keyfobs and badges are equally reliable, and the choice between the two often comes down to personal preference or operating environment. Keyfobs fit snugly on a keyring, keychain, or lanyard, while badges are conveniently wallet-sized and can be attached to lanyards via a plastic pouch. Fobs are perhaps better suited to particularly harsh or active working environments, whereas badges might suit an office or corporate setting. Badges can be printed with staff names, pictures, and/or your company logo if required.

Can we control access to the terminal?

All ClockRite terminals feature a top-level administration menu that can only be accessed with a special RFID proximity ‘admin card’. Individual users can also be assigned permissions-based roles, allowing them to perform specified actions depending on their responsibilities.

How easy is the RFID access process?

Staff simply present their registered RFID badge or keyfob to the AC100 access control terminal. Recognition is instantaneous, and authorised staff can gain access immediately.

Why choose proximity access control?

RFID proximity is one of the most popular forms of access control. Fobs and badges are compact, durable, and discreet, while the contactless nature of RFID technology makes it ideal for environments where dust and dirt are a factor. Proximity technology is well proven, and staff are usually familiar and comfortable with the concept.
