How the Facial Recognition Access Control System Works

Biometric Access Control

Authorised employees gain access to secure doors by standing in front of the AC400’s face recognition camera. Successful requests are confirmed with an audible and visual message, while door entry is quick, efficient, and fully reportable. RFID proximity capability offers a durable alternative if required.

Biometric Capacity and Recording

Initial face registration is extremely quick and simple, taking just ten seconds per staff member through a guided process at the terminal. The AC400 has the capacity for as many as 800 staff.

Entry/Exit and Multiple Door Scenarios

The AC400 terminal will link to most internal or external doors, working as a switch to open the door locking mechanism for authorised users. Multiple terminals can be used in tandem to manage entry and exit on either side of a single door, or to control movement through two or more entry points. All devices are centrally managed through our PC based access control software.

Permissions, Time Zones, and Live Monitoring

Our intuitive access control software makes it easy to monitor and manage employee movement between areas, allowing you to specify access permissions by role, responsibility, or department/group. Access events can be viewed in real time via live monitoring, and your assigned in-house administrator can enroll and manage users with ease.

Door Access Control with Time and Attendance

ClockRite access control systems can also be enabled for time and attendance monitoring by utilising biometric and proximity credentials in tandem; using one method (ie face recognition) to register attendance and the other (ie designated keycard/fob) to gain access to secure doors. Under this configuration each employee can register up to 16 attendance clockings and unlimited access control events each day. Our PC based time and attendance software enables quick and easy payroll calculation and features late starts and early finish flags, grace and rounding options, holidays, sickness, and overtime calculations.

Software

Facial Recognition Access Control System Software

The AC400 face recognition access control system is supplied with intuitive software, featuring a user-friendly, menu-driven dashboard with quick links to common operations. Real time monitoring gives you live feedback on access events and door status, while maps and floorplans can be imported for bespoke, site specific door management.

Detailed admin roles are easy to create and manage. Set access groups, timezones, anti-passback controls, and multi-card opening groups for high security doors. All software actions are logged for audit trail and later review.

Recommended Installation

Users should look down into the access control terminal camera. We recommend an installation height of around 1.1 meters, as this allows the majority of users to stand at a comfortable distance (around 0.5 meters) from the terminal when making an access request.

Installation Requirements

  • Nearby standard power source
  • Electronic door lock, such as a maglock or turnstile
  • Local door installation engineer
  • TCP/IP network connection (optional)*
  • Windows PC (optional)

*WiFi connectivity requires adequate 2.4GHz signal strength

FAQs

Are there any monthly fees or ongoing costs?

No, we do not charge monthly fees or subscriptions. Quoted prices assume that you'll be installing the system yourself and include the following:

  • Hardware
  • Software
  • Free delivery (UK mainland)
  • 12 months unlimited UK support

If you'd like to have your system installed by one of our engineers please get in touch for installation prices in your area.

After the first 12 months we'll invite you to renew your support contract with us. This is entirely optional, and you can take out a new support contract with us at any point in the future if you choose not to renew after the first 12 months. We do not charge an ongoing licence fee for the ClockRite software, and you'll still have access to your system regardless of whether or not you choose to renew.

How long is the warranty?

All clocking systems are supplied with a 12 month hardware warranty and 12 months software support. After this period you may choose to renew your support contract with us, thereby extending your system support and hardware warranty for a further 12 months.

How easy is the face clocking process?

Staff simply stand in front of the C400’s face recognition camera. Recognition is almost instantaneous, and in normal operation staff members can register a clocking in around two seconds.

Why choose face clocking?

The popularity of facial recognition clocking solutions has grown significantly in recent years. Facial recognition carries all the biometric security advantages of a fingerprint system while also being completely contactless, making it ideal for any working environment. The clocking process is swift, simple, and entirely foolproof, proving popular with staff members and ensuring peace of mind for administrators. Facial recognition technology is also becoming common in mobile phones and other personal gadgets, meaning staff are increasingly likely to be familiar with the concept.

Can we control access to the terminal?

All ClockRite terminals feature a top-level administration menu that can only be accessed with a special RFID proximity ‘admin card’. Individual users can also be assigned permissions-based roles, allowing them to perform specified actions depending on their responsibilities.

How many computers can we install the software on?

Every system allows for software installation on 2 PCs as standard. Additional software seats can be purchased at any time.
(A shared network drive or folder is required for multi-pc installation)

What’s the WiFi range?

WiFi range is generally similar to that of a mobile phone, laptop, or other WiFi capable device. Range is largely dependent on the signal strength of your wireless router, and can be affected by the construction of your building or nearby appliances. When considering an installation location for the wireless clocking machine a good rule of thumb is to ensure that your mobile phone can receive a consistent signal. If it can, the clocking machine should have no trouble gaining a connection too.

My staff are different heights, how will the clocking machine see them all?

The face recognition terminal is installed at an angle, giving it a wide field of view and allowing it to recognise staff of varying heights. Shorter staff members simply stand closer to the terminal, while taller colleagues stand a little further away.

How is facial profile data stored?

The C400 converts each staff member’s face profile into a secure mathematical algorithm. No image of the face is stored, and the algorithm cannot be reverse engineered.
